Assalaamu Alaykum Friends & Students
The Read & Write Arabic Course (see previous post) is essentially a course for adults and children 12 years and older. Ideally all children, especially those between the ages of 12 and 16 years (or younger) should be accompanied by an adult.
The course (which is based on the previous Read Arabic Today Course: http://readarabictoday.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html) is primarily for those who cannot read and/ or write Arabic at all. Although the words that will be taught are primarily Quran vocabulary, the course is not only for people who want to read Al-Quran, but anything in Arabic.
In addition to this the focus will also be on writing words and phrases in Arabic from Day One. In the first module, students will only learn 5 letters of the Arabic Alphabet. They will however immediately learn to read and write dozens of words (which appear more than 15 000 times in Al-Quran! https://schoolofarabic.blogspot.com/2011/09/read-understand-15000-arabic-words-in.html). The complete beginner will thus gain the ability to read, write and understand these words which appear throughout the Quran and in Arabic writing in general - after only learning five letters of the Arabic alphabet! The student will also be able to read, write and understand the 26 short sentences presented at the end of Module One.
In Module Two a further 5 letters will be taught. At this stage the student would have learnt 10 letters of the Arabic Alphabet, but the amount of words will be multiplied at least 4 times! After completing the first two modules, the Muslim or Non-Muslim student (irrespective of previous knowledge) should be able to read and write (75-100) Arabic words which appear numerous times in Arabic and on every page of Al-Quran! Once again 25 short sentences are presented, which the student should be able to read, write and understand upon completion
The entire course consists of 5 or 6 modules (I'm still in the process of revising the last few modules). From Module Three onwards additional letters and concepts will be introduced. Aspects relating to Tajwid ul-Quran (Rules of reciting Al-Quran correctly) and Makhaarij al-Khuruf (Place of articulation of letters) will also be covered throughout the course. At the end of each module a few sentences or ayaat ul-Quran will be presented, which will only include the letters covered at that stage.
Each module will be presented over 2 or 3 sessions, at one session per week. The student who provides his/ her WhatsApp and/ or email address will gain access to further lessons reinforcing each session attended in person. These additional lessons will be in the form of audio or video presentations. The purpose of these additional lessons is to assist the student with revising and internalizing the concepts taught.
The ultimate aim of the course is to teach an absolute beginner how to read, write and understand 100s of words found in Al-Quran and in Arabic in general, In-Sha-Allah!
